I have used it. I did make a mental note not to give it to the broodmares, im pretty sure it said no to foals under 6 months.
The 2 I gave it to have been on decent worming programmes, yet still had the runs for a good few days. Obviously toxic stuff but wouldnt hesitate to use it again.
I've just given it to both of mine with no problems in the slightest.
It's basically a combination of equest and equitape rolled into one!
I found it very good value on www.hyperdrug.com at £14.50 a tube inclusive of P&P
Couldn't help you regarding foalies though, best check with fort dodge on that one.
You can use Equest on foals over 4 months old, that I do know, though I haven't done so - still had panacur to use up, but now that's gone, I'm wondering what to use on him now - for tape worm...... Both their recent worm counts came back clear......
I know that's what the manufacturers recommended, but because of the relatively small level of error needed to overdose and the difficulty of accurately working out foal's weight, I was always too scared to use it until my girl was much older!
Found this chart about worming mares and foals which might be of use:
equest safe from 4 months. pramox safe from 6.5months. pramox just equest and equitape combined so shouldn't cause problems in an adult anymore than using them separately would.
If I remember correctly from when I had my baby, Equest is stored in fat, and as babies don't tend to have much fat, it is easy to overdose. I think I left it until about 10-12 months before using it.
I think that is right, but it was 4 years ago! Best to check with the manufacturer.
Equest is stored in fat and slowly released hence it's long inter-dosing interval. they still say its safe from 4 months though and the pramox from 6.5months.
