My horse started Prascend a few months ago (roughly) I did post here about him several times but to recap.
No signs of cushings, I'd have never thought he may have it other than recurring abcess's in his hind feet. Bloods showed he was very borderline positive, we decided to medicate to see if it made any difference. He's not had an abcess since, however the ground has also dried up etc so i can't be totally sure its that.
He's not gone off his food or anything like previous newly medicated pony did- He's been very easy to give and had no sigs of depression or any other common side effects.
I have noticed though he's gone from being very (crazily) dry in the stable, he would wee over night but never if he was only in for the day or a few hours what ever bed he had. He would wee before coming in, when he was being ridden and as soon as he was turned out.
He now seems to wee for England! There is actually a puddle under his bed. I know excessive drinking is a sign of cushings which would imply more urine but he's not drinking any more than he ever has done and this has only been since being medicated.

What made you test?
He suddenly stopped eating for a few days in December and then again a few weeks ago the same thing happened. He still doesn’t eat like he used to but I can get him back to eating a reasonable amount in about a couple of weeks.
He has had a very long coat that he doesn’t like to get rid of for a few years and the last couple of years he has started to suffer with abscess.
His level has come back around 40 so borderline.

My shetland is coming into 3 years since starting prascend, (half a tablet per day). I've not experienced any side effects, but defiently check in with your vet for advice. I've not known any cushings to wee more, unless the numbers have spiked and required a medication upped.

My pony was awful on it . Very lethargic and was basically like a zombie , completely changed behaviour and couldn’t be ridden as was too dangerous. Wasn’t picking feet up and wasn’t fair to her .

With vet’s advice taken off and working 2 weeks back to normal .

This is the prascend veil ... Basically central nervous system issues because of adding the dose faster than the horse can adapt to.
You can increase by 1/4 or even 1/8 of a pill to try and avoid it. Though some horses can just not tolerate prascend

She was started on a small dose and slowly increased . Definitely didn’t agree with her at all. She’s doing amazing without it. Plenty of work, soaked hay and limited grass .

Trawling through rabbit holes on Google to try and pin down how much protein my old guy should be having. Came across a thread from an American university outlining that too much protein in the diet will cause excess urination. Please ignore if this is useless information.....

First sign of Cushings for mine was weeing a lot, which stopped when he was on Prascend.
Yes and that's what I'd have expected. Frequent wee'ing is a sign of cushings and therefore i would expect the Prascend to help with that rather than make a dry horse wee!

No not at all, I couldnt tell you how much protein he gets, I know the sugar and starch levels in his feed but can't honestly say I've ever taken much notice of protein, I'll have a look. Thanks
