hi
i dont event so know very little about it.
my friend has been to see a potential eventer. really nice horse, friendly with lovely paces and jump. went thru a ford and jumped a small ditch at home.
it has only been out a few times and she wishes to do pre novice with it.
16.2 5yr old hannevarian.
but how much do you think it should be?
we cant make our minds up if he is overpriced or not

What has it done so far?
If she doesnt want to go above PN might she be better buying a bit more of an 'ordinary' horse for a bit less money?

This is the type I am looking for and it seems I need to pay anything up to £7000 although I think £5k to £6k is more reasonable & even better if it was £4k !!

Crikey...for a moment there i thought you were switching to eventing...

I think he is overpriced. You should be able to get something with a years experience for that money at this time of year.

However, if he's very nice and he is for keeps then that extra couple of thousand won't make much difference. Not much help am I !!

thats what i thought with one of mine. i knew he was overpriced as a 4yr old but loved him so brought him.
he is now 11 and i am so glad i got him as he has taken me to young riders classes showjumping!
he is the 2nd and 3rd in sig!!!

my friend has said she would keep him and while she herself knows he is over priced with her confidence thing and having looked at like 40 horses now, she loves him!
really difficult!

It depends if 8k is a lot of money to her? If she has looked at 40 horses and this is the first one that makes her feel safe and confident and he has the scope and schooling to do the job she wants, then I think the price is OK, especially as she could probably get them down to 7.5k

If you only have 4k to spend than 8k is a lot. If you have 7 to spend then an extra thousand is not much for a super horse
