Stage 2 or 5? Which one did you have for your horse/pony and roughly, how much do they cost?

A stage 2 is much simpler and tests heart & eyes etc. I'd always go for 5 stage unless on a broodmare or youngstock. Cost of 5 stage £180-£240 approx.

Check what your insurers require for the price of the pony. Sometimes they need a 5 stage if you pay over a certain amount. But to be honest if it is a ridden pony I would get a 5stage, it will be worth it for peace of mind.

With the vets I use the price for 5 stage is £214.80 + £51.42 call out, if more than 15miles away.

I had a 5 stage for my boy and personally always would when buying a horse.. But that's just because I would be riding and doing more than perhaps a broodmare. Can't remember the cost though xx
