Prednisalone for asthma - how long before result?

My pony has a dry cough and the vet has diagnosed asthma. He's on 100 Prednisalone a day for 10 days, the 50 pd for another 10. I'm wondering when the prednisalone should start to take effect? Any experiences welcome please We are doing the usual hay soaking and he's out during the day and in at night. Thanks!

When I take it it usually takes effect within 12-24 hours.
