Hi All,
I have just downloaded the CHAPS horse registering form and see that it states that Prefixes must be registered with CPR and CHAPS (UK) otherwise it cannot be used. My horse is named Riverdale Ruby, but her breeding is unknown and I therefore don't think that I can use 'Riverdale' as her prefix. She is not from a stud and that name is already registered. She was given the name from the stables where she was born. Can anyone suggest what I can do or a new name for this lovely mare?

Thanks All

Do you already have a passport for the horse with that as her registered name as if so, then all you need is the overstamping of that for her to be covered by CHAPS (or any other society for that matter I think, they all, to a certain extent allow overstamping.) If she isn't registered/passported with anyone else at all (in that case, no passport at all) then you will need a full sketch and micro chipping done by a vet before you can register her with anyone at all. If that's the case, then you will need to select another name if her original one is taken for any reason; possibly best to ring who you want to register with and run some by them, they should be able to tell you if they are taken, alternatively, look on NED to see if any are already taken. Hope that's clear enough
