Prefix's does anyone use with Oldenburg and KWPN.

I am just trying to register a prefix over here for BWBS and just wondered whether anyone has experience of them being used with foals registered with the KWPN or Oldenburg.
I gather that I choose a prefix, send £20 to the BWBS and then from what I gather they then let the Central Prefix Register know if they approve it or not.
If anyone could enlighten me whilst I await a reply from them that would be a great help.

I dont know about the Oldenburg but with the KWPN you cannot put on a prefix, only a suffix. Our prefix over in the UK is "MFS", but our foals through the KWPN have "MFS" after their name (as the KWPN have to begin with the letter of the alphabet in the year they were born....if that makes sense!).

You can obviously have a prefix in the sport as the likes of VDL do for their horses, but certainly on the KWPN papers you wont get it.
 
You can check on the Central Prefix Register's website to see if a name you would like is already in use or not.

New prefixes are protected from duplication within the breed societies listed above. The cost of a new prefix varies according to the breed society. Extensions to register with further societies cost £20 per breed society

As Anastasia says, you can't really use prefixes with KWPN registrations as each year the name has to start with a different letter. You might get lucky one year and find the required starting letter is the same as your prefix but it definately won't fit the following year!

Breeders often use a suffix, like Junior STV (STV stands for Stoeterij 't Vierspan).
