here's me and ellie last wednesday.....

it was only our fourth time out at a dressage comp, and she had been v spooky due to a flood in the centre of the arena - she doesnt like getting her feet wet!!!

bearing in mind the fact that we are complete dressage novices, and are working very hard on everything, especially our rather hollow and pokey-nosed canter, do you think we have any potential at all!?!!?!?!

of course you have potential. This was your fourth time out and the trot looked relaxed, this is prelim level remember your not meant to be perfect! The great thing is you know your areas to work on - you mention your hollow/pokey canter and the fact that your working on that.

With dressage, you work to improve and then take the horse out to show the improvement you've made. Dressage is always a working progress but you need to pat yourself on the back as many just talk about doing it! you and ellie are out there doing!!

Now you are out competing I sincerely hope you've sent off & received your passport? You need one just as much for unaffiliated shows as afiliated you know.

nope! not yet!

i dont attach any great significance to it, sorry! nobody i know has been inspected; of course, if we qualified for a championship, i would have to get it sorted, but i think its just a ploy to swindle money out of us!

Nice trot! Your horse looks relaxed and fairly comfortable, however you'll need to try and sit up and back on your seat bones a little more as you're throwing her onto the forehand a bit. Also I'd suggest trying to prepare your corners a bit more, a good bend round your leg will really help you get a nice shape from your horse coming out of a corner which you can then use on the straights. But pretty good for fourth time out!
