I've eventually got our yearling out to her first show yesterday, shes very good at home not nervous, takes everything in her stride, nothing phases her until we got to the show, I expected her to be a bit on her toes as it was her first show but not so stressed , jumping at everything, pulling hard, and stressing out, she did relax a bit after and started grazing but we were held up and it started her off again getting stroppy, whinnying etc.

How has any one handled this? I'm thinking getting her out for walks in the local park then trying the next show just for a look around then home again.

i get bunting and put it up around the stables, gets then used to the flags, we also use balloons tied to fence posts, I have cones, I also invite my friends down and we have (in this weather) a bbq (disposable and fenced off so the horses cant eat my burger) with pop up gazebo and dogs(always on leads), loudish music and general fivorilty. My horses are now quite sociable creatures.
