BHS London and Wormwood Scrubs Pony Centre Present
A Dismounted Workshop with Mary Wanless BSc BHSI
Mary is an internationally renowned riding teacher and author of ‘Ride with Your Mind’ (www.mary-wanless.com)
The evening will focus on some light-hearted ways to explain the issues involved in learning a complex physical skill. Within the horse world there is remarkably little information about the 'how' of riding, and the words that are traditionally used to describe riding skills can hinder more than they help. (For instance, how do you 'Use your back'?).

Talented riders cannot describe their skill in words, so they cannot pass it on, and it is hard for average riders to emulate those who instinctively do it right. But there are ways around these issues, and we will use some easy and fun excercises to illustrate some of the pitfalls of learning, and also some of the correct biomechanics that help you as rider to 'say it in the lauguage "horse" '. We will also suggest ways of making the most of limited time in the saddle, and finding off-horse ways of practicing and ingraining good skills.
Be prepared for an evening which is thought-provoking, eye-opening, and thoroughly good fun!
