I've posted on here recently about my young horse with an enlarged vein on his inside front leg and i've just had a thought, random, but i do like an explanation to everything! I noticed it after the weekend after we'd be out hacking for two days...he's got some high cut brushing boots he wears, a friend put them on him and i'm now wondering if the top strap was too tight and this could cause his vein to enlarge on the inside of his front leg...what do we think? A possibility? to recap he's not lame and there's no heat or pain...

i should add that these boots slope upwards to offer a bit of protection to the knee hence my query really, due to their shape, could they have exerted pressure on the top of the vein and cause a bit of swelling/bruising?

Very possible,as with ourselves if you apply pressure to the sight of a vein it will swell!
Sadly too many people believe they have to pull the straps tight on boots to provide support, not true, most boots are purely designed to prevent strike injury and nothing else, fitted to tightly they will do more harm than good, maybe fit the boots yaself to be sure
