I am thinking about entering Tash into a prettiest face class. We are still getting to know each other and our schooling isn't the best so though a nice easy class like prettiest face would be a good place to start at our first show (under saddle).

So, on to my question. How would I turn her out for such a class? Her forelock is really long so doesn't show off her face. Should plait it up out of the way? But then what would I do with her mane? She has such a thick mane but it isn't long enough for a running plait.

I am on my phone so can't upload pics but if you go on my profile you will see pics of her there.

She is Clydesdale x cob and has very pretty eyes (even if I do say so myself!)

Thanks in advance for advice/tips :D

It's just a local show so they allow the class to be under saddle or in hand. I wanted to do it under saddle to give her practice being in a ring with other horses....

There's no 'correct' turnout for a class like this as it's a novelty one, anything pretty much goes. I'd leave her forelock as it is, she'd look a bit strange plaited with those feathers, and it suits her face - which I think is very pretty by the way!
Good luck :)

Aw she's gorgeous! How big is she? Leave her mane and forelock as she's got such fuzzy feet, just make sure it's smooth and super silky. Why don't you do tack and turnout too, if it's just for fun and you just walk round? I would think you could leave her unplaited as a traditional for turnout class. Or an equitation class - that focus's on YOUR riding not how the pony goes? There's also potential ride and drive in hand which she might be good at?
BTW I'd be tempted to steal her, she's just my type and super pretty :)

Thanks! She is 15hh. I was going to do best turned out but my friend did that class last year on her cob and didn't get placed as her horse wasn't plaited up. The judge said he looked un tidy but i wouldn't know where to start with plaiting her mane as it is soooo thick! Suppose it depends on the judges preference on the day!

Hmmm you're probably right, I've won tack and turnout lots of times on a native who wasn't plaited so it probably does just depend on the judge? I don't think you could plait her in a "normal" fashion as they would be massive :) You hardly need any length for a running plait though, just keep it as close to the crest as you can (I do it for dressage). Still think you should leave her natural though :)

I tried a running plait in her mane tonight, it wasnt very good as her mane is so bloody thick but it made her look very smart. Might do a running plait for best turned out then take it out so it's all pretty and wavy for prettiest face :)
