Pretty Lame - Bruised Sole Perhaps?

I rode the horse on Sunday along a bridleway I've never ventured up before and came across a field which was jam packed full of flints. I was amazed - there hardly seemed to be any soil!! Horse found it v.hard work. He was quite wild because it was a bit windy and rainy so seemed fine all the way home.

Turned him out 2 hours later and as he trotted across the field he was lame on his off fore which also happens to be the leg he did a tendon on. So far so good with the tendon except that he banged it 2 weeks ago and it puffed up a bit.

Still lame yesterday with no heat or puffiness in either leg. No heat in foot and not sore when pressing hard on his sole. Could he have a bruised sole or something more sinister? I just wondered whether he trod on a particularily sharp flint and bruised a tiny bit of his sole or whether a flint has moved his shoe slightly and a nail is now pressing on a sensitive bit.

Any ideas?!!!

Its probably a bit of bruising or maybe even jarring- if it were one of mine I would ask my Farrier to come out and take the shoe off and check it out- if it is bruising a few days total box rest with a kaolin poultice (or something like that) should help. You could also try hot and cold tubbing it as well to bring out any bruising. If it isn't bruising, your farrier will be able to tell. Good luck.
