Preventing bit from rubbing?

I usually use bit guards but am going to my mate’s first ridden show this weekend and I can’t use the bit guards for showing. Both of my appy’s wear them all of the time because their mouths are pink and sensitive and they prevent rubbing…. should I use vaseline in the corner of her mouth or something else?

The best thing to look after sore mouths is Bit Butter, widely available from tack shops or online.
