I keep seeing sites where horses are for Sale and they either Code them as Price Band A B C D or have no prices at all.

One such site with no prices told me tell us which horses interest you and we will tell you how much they are.

Am I missing some subtle point am I supposed to fall in love with an horse outside my price range.

They frustrate me too :(

I think they're probably pretty expensive and designed to deter people on a lower budget, hopefully they will attract people with wads of cash who don't want all un sundry knowing how much their horses were!

the cynic in me thinks they are waiting to size you up to see how much money they can get out of you..

I understand the banding where you have an idea though still prefer the price stated. Even more so at the moment when there is no logic to horse pricing. I know people are worried but there are some really nice proven horses out right now for not a lot of money whereas others are still holding out for higher prices..

For one, quite simply the more the horse does, its value increases.

Also, putting prices online can cause dealers all sorts of hassle in the future, as well the buyers, often a price is considered private and between vendor and customer. In this day and age a quick google search of a phone number can bring adverts up from years ago!

I know what you mean! There seems to be a massive price range out atm. Some people have realised there is a recession on, others are having "difficulty" pricing their horses in the current market, some seem to be getting rid cheaply. Makes your head spin. Still, you can't accurately value a horse (or anything else come to think of it) as market value really means whatever someone will pay, which could be a whopping great range, particularly dangerous with horse shopping as there is so much emotion involved !
