I'm looking to buy some Ariat boots and have rung several retailers. The boots I want are not available until end of November. Every shop has quoted me the same price except one which are £5 cheaper. I've just been told that Ariat "dont price fix" but they" ask everyone to sell at same price so as not to start a price war" by another retailer who wanted to report the cheaper supplier to Ariat for undercutting. Surely this is illegal?

Don't know about the legality of it, but it's quite common for goods to have an RRP. Didn't Tesco start selling Levis jeans on the cheap a while back....got a feeling they lost the case though

Actually this practise is very common in the industry, as is banning cross border trade transactions to keep prices inflated in one country.

Weatherbeeta prevent anyone buying Wintec / Bates items outside of the UK so that all saddleries have to go through them rather than use an EU wholesaler.

I think this is exceptionally unfair when WB demand a minimum initial order of £10k.
