I have been ringing round to get my hay in for the winter and it appears to have gone up by 50p a bale compared to last years...because there is a shortage of it. Don't suppose there is much I can do as I need it, but hope the quality is good or I will be soaking all winter

Anyone else having this problem and how much are you paying per bale out of interest?

I had to go on a two hour drive just to get 2 bales of hay as there is a such a shortage of it! I payed €25 for a large round bale this year, and €20 last year.

Its because of the dry May and also the disappearance of the small bale.

No farmer wants to handle small bales if they can avoid it, as they cost more to produce and are a pain in the backside to handle and stack
