Has any one else noticed?
The last time we bought grass seed to reseed poached areas was a couple of years back. fortunatly our paddocks don't get very poached.
We paid about £5 for a 5kg bag. now looking in homebase/bbq it is about £50!!!
Looked on line and yep it's about £75 for 20kg
Any one know where I can buy it cheaper!
I thought it would only be a couple of quid like last time I bought it!

I have also noticed this, it's madness. Iv just re seeded my winter field and the seed was £57 a acre. £10 more than last year.

I paid £48 this year which is a huge increase from last years £30 and i have no idea, other than profiteering how they can inflate the price by these exorbitant margins.

last year was quite dry therefore less hay and less seed. there is less to sell and probably greater demand due ton the dry weather = patchy grazing. demand exceeds supply = price increase.

The odd thing is that in Kent there has been plenty of hay from last years cut,and our farmer still has supplies which is unusual. He said there is more hay than anticipated and he got a second cut last year from some of the fields.

Saying a lot of seeds being imported from new Zealand , we have just bought 30 acres worth at £38 acre, ouch!
