I own a livery yard with about 9 acres but would really like a bit more land. The field next to us is about 3-4acres (no facilities) and as far as I can make out is not used for anything so I was considering enquiring about rental. I am based in north worcestershire. What sort of price do people think is reasonable? Also what sort of length contract is normally made? Probably a hard one to answer but any rough ideas appreciated.

I pay £100 per month for the land I rent from the MOD.
Strict terms, IE no field shelters etc, but its a secure tenancy
New field is about 40 acres, can do what I like on it, have a five year contract and backs onto to what I already have. For that one I pay naff all

on agricultural rent you will only get 51 weeks of the year, to prevent tenancy rights. grazing for stock (sheep/cows) is cheap per annum but surprise surprise it goes through the roof for horses. land owners being liable for straying etc, and on a commercial venture, commercial insurance req. talk to your local land agent for a rough price guide for area, then talk to land owner direct!
