Good morning lovely people, Anyone able to share roughly the price of supply and install tornado / horse netting fencing.
Ideally by the meter - I've got either 300m or 600m to do (depending on whether I do it all in one go or not)

I currently have elderly post and rail where all the posts have rotted in the ground ! I will be removing the old fencing.

I recall the last time I did a proper run of post and rail it was about £10 a meter - is that still about right?

Many thanks in advance.

I do not know if Tornado will fit with Clipex posts but if it does they are really quick and easy to put in.
No special equipment , they cost about £5 a post and last 25 years and you can run electric fencing along the top.
We no longer use wood.

Thanks honeypot - it does look good but sadly only works with normal sheep fencing by the look of it. They don't have any horse products or testimonials on their website.
I'm also not sure they would be strong enough to hold the tension of the horse netting. It seems to need telegraph size straining posts!

Think our last post and rail was about 11.50/m , approx 2 years ago. Won't renew it, my neighbours donkeys have eaten all the rails on his side, and the posts are already looking shabby.

We use metal gate posts as strainers and run electric fencing on offsets to keep them off it. Ours is mains electric so they never go anywhere near it.
Because you can do it yourself you could save thousands.
When we moved in we had top quality posts, gates etc, from Jacksons. To have it erected, if you could find someone, was more than the fencing. With Clipex you save time and money.

I did 750m of Tornado fencing (or rather paid for it to be put up) back in 2011.
There were 6 turns to do along the run, all the old fencing of 5 strands barbed with posts to be removed and a lot of brambles removed. I had a top half round rail fixed to the top in one paddock and I fitted a wide electric tape to the other 2 on the top, so the fence is over 6 ft tall. The lads also installed 2 replacement gates and posts at the same time.
Its prevented the deer from getting in and wolfing resting paddocks, plus also stopping dogs getting in on that side.

After install, I found my 2 little ponies adore the fence as it's great to scrub woolly coats on 😂🤬🙄 so I've also put one line of electric tape on short posts just inside it since.

I am irritated as some of the 4inch round posts have already rotted (turn and strain posts all good as were 6" rounds) Whereas much older posts on the right boundary are still strong, despite being well over 30 years old.

I think the total cost was just under 3.5k at the time, but that included the gates too and a few minor posts on other parts replaced.
Prob not of help tho OP.

That said, when I do the other run, that will also be Tornado.
My internal fences are post and rail tho, backed up with electric tape to prevent it being destroyed.

Thanks all, I think they changed the rules on treating fence posts (probably because the old stuff was nasty) so I've heard lot of people say posts from the last 8-10 years are lasting no where near as long as old posts

I am hoping the wire means less posts and I was looking at putting stud rail along the top (rather than wood) as again I think that will need fewer posts.

Having battled with electric in windy locations it's not something I'm keen to repeat!

Tricky to find something sheep / dog proof, horse safe and vaguely economical

All my fencing is electric. The conductor on the metal fencing is just to keep them off, so it’s poly wire with nine ‘tins’ for the most conduction, it’s used for sheep so really gives a zap how ever slightly they touch it.
It’s very fine so has little wind resistance, so once it’s in and strained you can forget about it. Some of mine has been up for five years. I replace it when the lichen starts to grow on it. I live in the windy fens and it doesn’t budge.

I note that Clipex mention various types of animals that the fencing can be used for but absolutley not a mention of a horse?!
