OH is currently looking for a replacement kitten following AC's death

He's keen on British Short Hairs but is keen on greys so has been messaging most with a grey....

I'm keen to only use a proper breeder as while more likely than not we were just unlucky with AC, I'd prefer to use a breeder

He messaged one who had kittens for over £500.....

The reply was priceless - he doesn't know who dad is and in response to asking if they were flea treated "there's no point as all the cats go outside and bring them in on their coat" ????

You really couldn't ? AC "breeder" who apparently only had kittens because the cat got out when waiting to be spayed then couldn't due to lockdown.... Guess what, has more kittens available one which looks exactly like AC....

I am seriously shocked by the prices i'm seeing for British kittens. When did this happen? is it covid? were they used in an advert over there? They were the cheapest of the pure breeds for years and now they are one of the most expensive. I'm guessing that as more cats went indoors, the lazier breeds got more popular.
I would tread very carefully ......

BSH prices have gone bananas since covid. Even the reputable breeders have had to put their prices up as kittens were being bought and resold for more money >.<
It seems to be a total minefield at the moment but GCCF registered breeders should at least responsible so I'd lean towards them as a starting point. Good luck on the kitten hunt!
