Hi,

Is there anyone from Warwickshire that can give me an idea of costs of farriers, hay, haylage, shavings etc in the area. Also livery / land prices?
Have applied for a job in the area and if I got it would have to move from Kent with 3 horses and 3 dogs, and want to get a feel for the area.
May not get an nterview anyway, but nice to be prepared!!

Ideally would look at buying some land. Been used to my own down here. But may need to rent somewhere for a bit first.

It's everything else that goes with horses though, I know in Kent the farrier can range from £30 to £80! Mine is brilliant and is approx £50, could always pay his train fair every 6 weeks!

Land prices here for paddocks are around £10,000 - £15,000 per acre. A friend of ours bought an 8 acre field for £85,000 but that was 5 years ago.

I have a lovely livery yard if you need one

These are the rates in my area (Warks/Staffs):

£6 for a bale of shavings
£8 for a bale of hemp type bedding
£55 for set of shoes
£20 for a barefoot trim
£27.50 DIY livery (with indoor school)
£15-20 DIY livery (with outdoor school)
£60 per week part livery
£3-£3.50 for a bale of hay

Hope that points you in the right direction.
