So... I was just surfing the internet and I discovered that my old JRT probably has the ears she has due to 'Prick ear' which is basically a genetic mutation yes?
I had once thought it may have been from cropping her ears as she was a farm bred thing xD and her tail has been docked [before it was illegal] but I think that is unlikely with jack russells isnt it?

So.. is there anyone else with JRTs or other breed that get this?

Oh and if anyone fancies trying to work out whats in her history ... ;) Her mother looked like her but was a bit stockier and had the typical type ears - Zig was the littlest of her litter.

I've seen lots of Jacks with pricked ears, it is nothing to do with cropping :) or one up, one down :p

You'll also see greyhounds and border collies with pricked ears. Am assuming it is in the genes, in the same way as certain dogs of my own breed (GSDs) would be known to throw soft ears (which is a fault in the showring, I may be wrong but am thinking it is a fault in show collies and greys?)

Our Lancshire Heeler has pricked ears which is correct and also within the breed is semi tipped ears also correct.

Our last Lancashire Heeler had one pricked and one down and apart from that was a good specimen but we never showed her.

Aww she is a cutie :) It could be that she has some other breed in the mix, as JRT's are supposed to be at least 50% white. I have seen a few with prick ears & they usually are the ones with more colour than they should have.
