I went out to teach one of my clients this morning only to find her really upset. She was upset about something else entirely and then she mentioned that she wasn't very happy with her horses clip. She had got someone out yesterday to clip her horse that advertises themselves as professionals in grooming and clipping etc. Now my client has only just got into horses so she doesn't value her own judgement but OMG! The horse had been given a trace clip.
1. The lines weren't even nearly straight
2. The lines weren't even on both sides
3. There were big chunks taken out of the lines
4. The horses head had been finished off very badly and she hadn't even attempted to clip under her chin.
5. She hadn't clipped in between the front legs
6. It looked like her blades must have been blunt or something because what had been clipped looked chewed and not clipped very closely!

Anyway, luckily I had my clippers in the car and spent an hour trying to sort it out. But once someones messed up some lines it's always difficult to correct it. I maybe would have understood if the horse wouldn't stand still or something. But she was an angel, and apparently was yesterday as well. I even clipped her head with my big clippers and she didn't care at all. The woman had also attempted to pull her mane, but it didn't look straight at all.

This person advertises in the local area. I just can't believe that someone would charge to leave a horse looking like that. I'm no perdantic perfectionist but honestly the horse looked a mess! I can't believe a professional would take such little pride in their work when repuation is everything.

My client did call her and give her a piece of her mind. The woman didn't say much, but then I don't think she could get a word in edgeways!

Honestly! Rant over.

That's really bad, I'd be furious! There's nothing better than standing back from a freshly clipped or pulled horse that looks smart, I can't understand why people do it if they aren't going to do it properly!

Well those are my thoughts. I hate clipping which is why I never volunteer. You either like it or you don't. And you'd have thought you would like it if you were going to make a career out of it and therefore you would like to do a good job!

Oh and no she hasn't asked for her money back. Don't think she can be bothered with the argument.

She was charged £30!

I used to let my WPs clip the eventers...then go over them myself afterwards...to be honest it took a lot longer to repair a clip than just to clip.
But the WP's needed to learn somehow...

Quite! Apparently it took her half an hour to clip and pull her mane, I was there for nearly an hour trying to repair it!

It sounds like my clipping, but then I only clip my own horses, and quite like them having the moth-eaten chewed by a goat look. I've been asked to clip other horses at the yard and always refuse due to my incompetence at clipping straight lines (among other things)

She really shouldn't have been charged if the clip was that poorly done.

blimey that's awful, someone I knew from my old yard came and clipped George, and confessed that she only ever did full clips so doing a bib & belly might come out a bit dodgy so wouldn't take any money for it. I was happy to let her do it as i've never clipped and am hopeless at stuff like that. Thought she did a really good job:

I would be demanding my money back, and telling everyone I knew to avoid her!
