How big is your dog? If it's a largish one I would wait and see for a bit and monitor the output. If you can get it out for a walk this evening see if you can encourage things to move a bit - gentle walk nothing vigorous.
However, be aware of the signs and symptoms of bloat and treat as a medical emergency if they crop up.

All mine eat stuff they shouldn't including cardboard, it usually passes in 24 hours though

Wow, what a monkey. My old collie once ate a box of celebrations, wrappers and all and spent a couple of days doing lots of shiny poops! I actually suspect the wrappers prevented most of the chocolate being digested.

Hopefully, something has started to emerge by now. If not be wary of very runny poops - sometimes that is all that can get past a blockage, retching, doing a lot of stretching as well can be a sign of gut discomfort. Anything like that and I reckon it is a vet job, otherwise keep monitoring.

As a slight aside, has the dog definitely eaten the whole thing? I only ask as mine tend to leave at least a few tell tale shreds, the fact that the whole thing appears to be gone makes me wonder if it has actually been buried/hidden somewhere?

I don't thing they still have aluminium rings on I think it is just shiny cardboard now but I could be wrong

Monitoring plenty of water and keep to his normal food and routine.
keep an eye out for any change in attitude or signs of pain.any vomiting or discomfort and its off to the vets I'm afraid. Cardboard should be digestible thankfully but sometimes dogs can surprise us.

My childhood dogs(Labradors)ate corn on the cob whole and passed it the same way. They also regularly ate bones cooked and raw...be even used to be given an entire turkey carcass every winter....and they all survived it....however I have had to remove all of the above from other dogs surgically so it's not something I'd recommend now!

unless it's straight after happening and the vets can safely make it be vomited back up/it's toxic or theirs signs of a blockage then the wait and see approach tends to be key.....but you do need to monitor very closely for discomfort so it's not uncommon that vets will hospitalise and give iv fluids...blockages make dogs become very sick very quickly those subtle signs of discomfort should not be ignored!

They really do like to keep life interesting don't they!

Well he has survived so far, no sign of any problems! I did find a few shreds of cardboard and a half chewed shiny bit, which is foil covered cardboard. He is a bit of a cardboardaholic if he can get in the recycling bin!

Mmmmmmmmmmmm....................yet another with a need for multiple accounts/personalities? Sad the way this forum is going - and that's not a specific but a general comment.

Actually, I had to create this account when the forum was undergoing major work some time ago with massive problems if you remember, and I couldnt log in through my original for weeks, I had to create another account through Google Chrome that I now mainly use for personal things and so I can use iplayer which for some reason wont load in IE !. It just depends which system I am on when I log in here now! No underhand reason. Dont think I have upset anyone through either account have I ? I suppose I should have scrapped one or other just didnt get a round tuit.

penny less....it's confusing not to know who is postingespecially if you change handles in mid post. Please can you stick with your pennyless name here so we can follow the thread ?
..I know you and your clumber as pennyless...the other handle was confusing also to me.

I hope your dog is ok today...I recently had an episode with my mini schnauzer going into my sons bedroom..I would call her out and shut the door...then I realized she was going in to swallow his wax ear plugs...whaaaaaat??? I didn't realize until I saw pink gunk in her poo....
So now Ive gone back to puppy regime( even though she's 18 m). Safety gates, train my son better, and leave nothing accessible that she may take a shine to.

Did try to use same username originally, but forum wouldn.t let me ! would like to have access from both systems using same name much easier . Confused myself too sometimes. I find Explorer makes the forum play up for some reason. Maybe H & H will let me change user name on Chrome.
