Hiya,

Dad has an Ifor Williams 510 horse trailer, about 10yrs old, very sound but has a wonky light cluster (thanks to careless reversing) and a bit of green slime on the roof  They have owned it from new but my folks have now seperated. Neither of them need it and Dad has his eye on an IW cattle trailer...

Sooo because it isn't immaculate do you think he would be better of doing a part ex on a new cattle trailer? Or is there as market for a shabby-but-sound IW510 so he could buy a similar spec 2nd hand cattle trailer??

Opinions please :D

It depends how much off the price of the cattle trailer the dealer offers you. Check similar condition 510's on Ebay to see how much they sell for. Then decide based on a comparison.

I second researching prices on ebay etc to get an idea.
I know if the ifor has a wooden floor the price drops opposed to the metal floors.
If you were in Oxon I may have been interested in the 510.

I did think of this, I just wanted to establish whether there is a market for trailers with the odd bump or ding- I find looking on ebay can be misleading as reserve prices and buy it now prices can be as ridiculous as any other advertising sometimes :D Thanks for the reply though, and sorry for not making my post clearer :D

:) you were clear, it was me that wasn't. What I meant was to check the 'completed' sales - so you can see what the bidding went up to. That way you can ignore silly reserves or starting prices and just see what they finished at - hope that makes sense.

I'm on the look out for a half decent 505, so I watch a few on Ebay and I would say that there does seem to be a market even for those with bumps and bashes.

I've been lookinjg for a HB510 - they are like hens teeth and don't hang around for long so it would be well worth giving it a steam clean and sticking it on Ebay. It's amazing how much some will make.
