Have posted on here before looking for a fibre source for my ulcer prone stressy mare and was recommended pink mash (i know some horses don't eat it but shes not the fussy type) as it has digestive support. Was going to use pure feed company balancer, but seemed very expensive for what it was and didnt have a full spectrum IMO. So then went on the hunt for another balancer to help in winter (she goes out most days from 6-4 however has her hay soaked so loses quite a few vits) and looked into progressive earth Pro balance+ as it is affordable, with great reviews on the website. Was wondering if anyone had opinions on these two feeds or if anyone has used them together before x

I feed this combination.

Fat cob gets a tiny handful of pink mash to mix Pro Balance into and then a handful of grass chaff.

If we ever get grass again QH and neurotic TB will go back to just getting pink mash, grass chaff and Pro Balance too.

I add salt to feeds as well as it's not included in Pro Balance.

Random question, what type of salt? Also are they looking good on it

Absolutely unashamedly on the pink mash bandwagon here.
Can’t rate it highly enough!
Mine has a sprinkle of speedy fibre added for the apple flavour (very picky creature) and d+h performance balancer.
If we need more/less condition then more/less micronised linseed.
Looks and feels fantastic on it.
Also gets plain table salt

I thought that Pink Mash was the bees knees and fed it to my 3 as a carrier for Forageplus balancers, til I noted that their feet weren’t as good, and two had hind gut ulcer type symptoms... They loved it, though.

Pink Mash contains soya, which some horses react adversely to. I’ve now ditched it. Two horses are on Forageplus balancers and the third, the most adversely affected by the PM, is on Pro Balance, mixed in with a little Agrobs aspero and soaked wiesencobs. Feet have improved again and the ? hind gut symptoms have settled.

Have given her balieys light chaff which contains soya oil, so hoping she won't be bad on it, do you rate pro balance as a balancer

Its soya hulls not soya oil so I've never had anything react to it, but guess some always will. It was instrumental in sorting hind gut issues in one of mine as well.

I feed pink mash and equimins advance complete. Its the cheapest decent spec balancer you can get. I add grass nuts for calories if needed and oats for energy. The one that gets oats gets them when shes in full work and she does work very, very hard then, so needs something.

I used pro balancer for many years and was quite happy with it but after swapping to Equimins advance and I think it’s a lot better imo.
I just add it to chaff and small amount of grass nuts
