Can anyone give me an idea of how long it would take to poo pick a field daily for two horses out 18 hours a day in summer and probably 8-10 hours in winter?! Yard ATM doesn't poo pick - in theory have paddock sweeper but this seems to have stopped being used at the moment so am considering options.... If two horses on say 2 acre paddock, how long would I need to allow each day at a guess?

Depends how long I dilly, dally and daydream. Our 4 are out 24/7. If I get about it quickly and just dump it on the muck heap, Its probably about 45mins. If I round the heap up I can add another 15 - 20 mins.

When its wet, slippery and dark it always takes longer

I poo picked yesterday. A whole 7 days worth of it (in one HUGE barrow - I must be mad)... took me an hour and 20 minutes.. 20 minutes of that actually just taken dragging the barrow OUT! About an acre field, 2 mares out 9 hours per day. If I did it daily I would say no more than 15 minutes a time (if walking quickly!)

If it's a 2 acre field, the time is more taken walking around the field than actually picking up poo I'd think!
I'd say nearer half an hour, it takes me 15 -20 mins to do 2 horses out 24/7, but right now thay are in smallish paddocks. And the mare does most of hers in one corner. One full wheelbarrow a day. Once they move into summer field, which is bigger, I will allow 30 mins becasue I will have to walk further around the larger field.

We have two shets and two biggies ( turned out as two pairs ) we pop pick every day ,they are all out 24/7, and it takes 10 - 15 mins so not long , just to add to this I did a worm count on my new boy in Oct and his count was 800 epg and we pooh picked all winter and i've just got my march count back as 50 epg so it really makes a difference..

Thanks all - if I go down this route I may look at splitting the 2 acres in half and swapping between the halves monthly, but sounds like could allow 15 mins a day to cover it which isn't too frightening!

I have 2 out 24/7 on a smallish field and it takes me about 10 mins to do it every day. If you have longer grass, then it takes longer to find them, and if the field is bigger, longer to walk round it, so no-one can really answer this for you! Once the field is clear, then if you do it daily it will be much quicker - I don't even take a barrow load out for mine.

Until the clocks changed I was only doing mine on a weekend and it took less than an hour for 2 ponies out 24/7 on about 1.5 acres.

Sometimes I do faff about though and it takes alot longer. I listen to my Ipod, take pictures on my phone, upload said pictures to Facebook, cuddle ponies, reply to comments on pictures on Facebook, daydream, play with the dog, take pictures of the dog, sunbathe, I've even been known to have a couple of hours kip after a heavy night the night before.... I actually love poo picking!

Takes me abut 45 mins to clear our field. The one we're in now is approx 2 acres and has 4 horses out 24/7. Takes me longer as unfortunately the field is on a hill and the muck heap is at the top! Wouldn't take quite as long if it was down the hill instead!
