She absolutly loved it - although a little unsure at first!

She is still standing this morning, so I know I haven’t harmed her....

.... just wondered what other strange and interesting things your horses have surprised you with eating?!!

My girl managed to hoover up a banana skin from the verge the other week. I was horrified but couldn't hoik it out quick enough... doesn't seem to have done any harm. She also likes toblerone which we share
smile.gif
She will also eat whole cloves of garlic which I find very weird and gives her smelly breath
laugh.gif

We had a pony that would take a can of coke out of your hand, hold it upside down and drink it all.

Ronnie BEGGED me to give him some of my belgian bun when we were waiting for the vet last week. He looked so pitiful that I gave him a chunk of it with some icing on, but he chewed it round and round for a bit and then spat it out and harumphed at me and went to the back of his stable! I don't think he liked it very much

My chestnut likes mince pies and toast with marmalade but the grey gets a bit upset because he wants to have some but they taste so bad.... But mince pies definitely cheered up the chestnut when he was on box rest last Christmas!

When we were younger ( my sister and I) We had a welsh pony on loan from a sanctuary.
One day his previous owner came to visit him.
She fed him mars bars! not one but a whole multi pack of 5!

You can imagine the sticky mess he made!
I think even he felt a bit sick after!
I know I would after 5!

At an old fashioned country fayre type horse show a few years ago, my anglo-arab, fox managed to pilfer a bowl of sherry trifle somehow and loved it! He had custard all over his nose and was liking it off for ages. Two of my horses had a real thing about bourbon biscuits and one of my jumping ponies loved gobstoppers and cheese sandwiches - the same pony also demanded an icecream everytime he jumped a clear round. My 17 hand dressage horse loves fanta and will drink it out of a bottle and will pester me like crazy if he sees me drinking from a bottle in front of him!

My horses will eat anything sweet! When I 1st had Buddie when I was 15 my mum used to give him jammy dodgers if she had no apples! They dont like pastys for some reason though! last year I bought Buddie a carrot cake and he didn't like it, Bear did though.

My old horse fancied herself as a bit of a WAG as she loved champagne (not that she got it very often
smirk.gif
). Someone told me recently that horses love raisins so I tried that with my beastie (who will eat anything) - he hoovered them up off my hand then stared at me like I had poisioned him. He then spent the next ten minutes spitting them out one by one all over his stable. Very entertaining

My very cheeky little 12.2hh pony will eat ANYTHING! When we were younger at shows he would always share my burgers, mars bars and coke. He loves crips & minstrels. Whereas my other boy will not touch any human food, he is utterly disgusted by the thought!!
The Haribo one is hilarious....

Custard creams, mince pie at Christmas, Kit Kats, anything in a sandwich, crisps, bananas, ginger biscuits, anything minty. TBH, haven't discovered anything he DOESN'T like yet! Might try the Haribos just to see his face!!! My friend's TB defo does NOT like corned beef pasties as he snaffled a huge bite out of the one I was eating then spat it out into my face. I used to ride out with a woman who would lean forward in the saddle in canter and feed mars bars to her horse! We're all mad!!!

We have a livery at our yard, she visits her retired horse once a month usually, gets him brought in so she can see him. Comes up for 5 mins feeds him a whole packet of expensive M&S donuts then goes home VERY strange!

Mine loves loads of human food - esp jam doughnuts, hot cross buns, sweet pastries etc!

He also likes wine gums, all crisps, sandwiches (I'm a veggie so no meat), vegi-burgers, chips, fruit inc strawberries / blackberries / banana's. Pizza.

He also loves full fat coke - note not diet he doesn't like that! When we hack to the pub the 2 geldings normally share / fight over a can of coke.

Only thing he spat out was a galaxy muffin - yes really - my boyf gave it to him. He doesn't seem to like chocolate..

Ed will eat pratically anything, the sweeter the better.
He absolutly loves tea, when he was stabled at night in the morning I used to make a cup for him in the morning. He used to get hold of the cup (plastic) tip it up and just drink the entire thing. He also does this with any bottled drink.

When I was a child I had a pony who loved bananas. I rather foolishly gave him one once at a Pony Club rally, I can still remember the telling off I had from an instructor now, and it was 40+ years ago

I had another pony who loved sherbet strawberry sweets (not sure if they are still around).

Gypsy used to love aniseed balls and the really, really hot ones- she'd eat 5 in one go. Septre would spit them out.

Amber loves bananas, rich tea biscuits, and camomile tea and peppermint tea. I was talking to my OH, standing by her stable with a cup of c tea once and the cheeky moo started lapping it out of the cup! She is forever trying to nick normal tea and coffee, but I wont let her have any- she's mad enough as it is.
