Hello
I've had my horse about 3 weeks now. Had the vet out this morning as she has tummy ache. Kicks at her tummy, doesn't like it being touched etc, she's eating Fine and is in light work (4-5, 1 hour long hacks a week)
Vet has said its the grass, she came to me from a field with very little grass and now has a really good amount. She's out 24/7.
The vet has suggested that I bring her in for half the day and just give her hay. I'm a little reluctant to do this as she won't be able to see any other horses and we don't spend that much time at the stable part of the yard anyway she she isn't that familiar with it. I feel it would probably do her more harm than good being left there on her own.
So, I have restricted her grazing to just one strip and given her plenty of hay in her field shelter. I'm considering getting her a grazing muzzle too.
I'm just coming back into horses again after a long break away so everything is a bit new to me again. Does anyone have any other suggestions as to what I should do? The vet also said I should get a pro biotic to help her gut. Can anyone recommend one to me.
I am currently feeding her on
Linseed
Oat bran
Pumpkin seeds
Fenugreek
Formula 4 feet
Angus cactus
This is what the people who she came from were feeding so I have just carried on from that
Thanks in advance, sorry for the essay! 🙂
