So, today someone commented on one of my foals eyes. One of her eyes has more "white" visible though its certainly not bulging in any way, nor looks any different to the other eye other than this slight showing of the white.
Is this a problem, or likely to be a problem to her?
I shall get vet to check when next here to see Little Stig though just in case!

Do you mean it almost looks like a human eye because the outside of the iris is white instead of brown? This is fairly common- look up 'white sclera' and you should find all the info you need- it is not a problem

some horses show more white like this, usually it is horses with a wide blaze. it's not a fault and doesn't affect their vision at all afaik. my chestnut had 2 white-rimmed eyes and had perfect vision until i lost him aged 24. i like horses with 'poached egg eyes', i think it gives them character!

So bog all to get my knickers in a twist then. Kerilli, she does indeed have almost a white face, the eye in question is the side the blaze runs over!
Thankies!

I had a wrmblood with an eye like this. it isn't technically a fault, but a lot of old fashioned horsefolk will say its a sign of nappiness, backwardness or inconsistency in the horse's behaviour.

to be fair that all fitted with my warmblood, but that could just be coincidence

Doesn't sound a problem J but I'd try a startle test just to be certain. Without causing permanent mental scars in your youngster, bring your hand sharply up to each of her eyes in turn, as if you were gonna smack her in the face. Ned should "startle" away. In order to rule out any cheating on the horse's part, you have to try to eliminate sound or movement of air that would give the horse a clue as to what you were doing. If there were any doubt after this I'd set up a few iffy things in the school, eg umbrella etc and walk ned past it on both reins.

Have fun!!!
