Problem with Baileys No 1

My tb has been on Hifi lite, top spec lite and baileys no1 and he looked fabulous, muscles rippling and he shone like a new copper penny until 2 weeks ago when he got nearly 3 inches of a 4inch nail in his foot. He's had his operation and is now on box rest for the next couple of weeks.

He had to come off the baileys and top spec as he had colic twice whilst in the equine hospital. I reintroduced the baileys on Sunday and he has come out in an allergic rash which is really sad as it has kept him looking great all through the winter.

Does anyone know why all of a sudden this should
happen?

Is there something similar?

I know that horses can get allergic reactions to many, many things and trying to find out what has caused what is a total minefield. Are you sure its not just a coincidence and that it could have been something else that gave him teh reaction? I'd wait until the lumps had gone down (this will be really quick) and then try him again. If he's eaten it before without a problem then I can't really understand why he'd have a problem with it now.

Sorry to hear about the nail. My horse had a clench in his sole but luckily it had gone in at an angle so wasn't deep. Your boy was very lucky the nail didn't penetrate any sensitive structures. I hope he gets better soon x
