Problems finding a loan horse

A friend from the stables has been looking for a horse to loan for nearly a year and hasn't found anything suitable, a lot of people understandably want their horses to stay at his/her current yard and most horses available for loan these days seem to be older than she wants, have health issues or be problem cases. I had a couple of cracking r.c horses who weren't any of the above on loan as a teenager but these just don't seem to be around any more.... (she has tried the local tack shops, horsemart etc and all the usual places).
Has anyone else experienced similar problems? Does she need to be more flexible?
I recently found a loan horse for my best friends children via someone on here & although this is advertising (slapped wrists time) do any of you know of a 15hh plus r.c type thats under 15 and not to cobby available for permanent loan?
 
Why does it have to be under 15? The good thing about a loan horse is that you can give it back when you feel its getting on a bit. My new loan horse is 14 and to be age doesn't come into. Some of our best loan horses where well over 15. Tara was 16 when my dad got her and 2 years later they did there first PN together. My most favourite pony was 24 when I had him on loan. I rally think she should try looking for an older horse.
 
No, I don't mind an age, was just saying I need a loan horse!
As long as it is under 20 I not mind.

Kirstyfk I completely agree with you about the age thing but she feels a horses capabilities lessen with age and also more importantly that older horses are much more prone to illness and injury.
 
have you looked on www.thehorseexchange.com i found my loan horse on there really quickly and hes just what i wanted (i really went to look at her other one but came back with woody lol) sorry if thats no help erm... try tack shops, word of mouth is normally how you find them but good luck!!! hope you both find what you are loking for
 
TRy the pony club.

When your children give up or move on from their old reliables, they often come up for loan, the DC will often know if something is coming up too.
 
I think that a lot of its just luck, good loan ponies tend to be hard to find and loaners could loan them out 10 times over when they do come avalible. IMHO

I would second trying the pony club and word of mouth.
