Hi, just wondered if anyone else has problems in the ring like me???

My horse and I have huge issues with our correct canter lead on the right rein. It has improved 99.9% my horse is fit healthy and all tack and equipment is perfect.... bar my brain!

We were out competing Saturday and Sunday and came home with a second, two thirds and a sixth. In a couple of the classes where it went wrong we were dropped down considerably because of this which is gutting but understandable as I know it is me. Practising before classes fine, lap of honour fine, practise after bad classes fine but when it really matters eughhhhhh!!!!!!!!

Is it just me having a case of stage fright!?!? Does any one else have any silly problems like this???

Sorry its so longgggggg thank you!!

i would politely suggest it's nothing to do which nerves in ring and more to do with improving your straightness and schooling.
I would suggest that you have chat to your trainer and see how you can be helped. As for pickup so called 'wrong canter lead' is down to couple of issues and not see how your horse goes can't comment. Good luck, as i'm sure it will be something simple

I agree with it being about our straightness and schooling to a point. But we are not having problems with this out of the ring, only in the ring when all focus is on us. Lots of practise is being had though so fingers crossed.

then thing is for you to chill

Best get my hipflask back out then, yay!!!! It is the latest thing we have accomplished so I am guessing it will develop in dribs and drabs!?!

It is probably down to nerves in the ring. When I jump at home, or out schooling, everything is spot on, whereas in a BSJA comp, we have a few problems. I think it is down to nerves. Perhaps in the ring, you try too hard and over exaggerate the aids so pushing your horse onto the wrong canter lead. Outside the ring, you will not make it such an issue, but you may lean or similar in the ring, trying hard to get it right. The biggest thing here I think, is to relax, which I know is easier said than done.
