hiya, just wondering if anyone has one of these and if you have ever had any problems with it?

I received mine a few days ago and have ridden in it twice, it is the english style.

The first ride i noticed it started to slide back almost immediatly. I dismounted, repositioned it and my friend mounted. she was bucked off a few minutes later as the pad had slipped back as I assume it had become uncomfortable for my horse (who does not normally buck) :(

I then rode in it today and gave up with it after a few minutes as it had slipped back by about two inches within one lap of the school in walk. It also presses down fairly hard on his withers.

I dont understand why these problems are happening as my horse is not high withered and I am doing the girth up tightly enough?
any advice?
Thanks

Does it have stirrups? That type is the work of the devil!

Even without, bareback pads have a bit of a rep for making horses sore because you have to do the surcingle up so tightly and they are usually not sufficiently padded. Some of the pricier ones with non-slip surfaces and more structure from padding/sheepskin are very comfortable and useful but you really do get what you pay for. As a temp solution, if I ever need one, I use a good longeing surcingle and a decent pad.

I have the western version of the Best Friends Bareback Pad. Can't really advise on why yours is slipping, does your horse have high withers? Mine isn't cinched that tight, obviously snug but not enough to cut her in half.

Tarrsteps, they don't have stirrups and have a waffle effect non-slip sort of gel underside with a suede seat.
