If you are not satisfield with your insurance companies decision and you think you have a legitimate claim, contact the Financial Ombudsman who are there to help you, FREE OF CHARGE.
Tell your insurance company you are making a complaint to the Financial Ombudsman. The FO will look at your case independently and make recommendations, which usually the insurance company, if it goes in your favour, will abide by. Good luck.
