Hi,

I brought my boy a Premier Equine winter buster rug with a detatchable neck rug. I've had the rug a month and he only wears it during the day as he's in at night. The problem is the velcro that fixes the neck cover to the rug, the stitching is breaking and coming un-done.

I rang Premier Equine and sent photo's, they replaced the neck rug straight away no problem. Which I was very pleased with. My boy has worn his new neck rug 2 days and its already happening again! Arrgghh! Has any one else experienced this problem? I'm thinking it maybe a design fault?

I used to have one of these and I have several friends who have them. Never heard of it happening, possibly a faulty batch?

Sounds unusual.
We have had one for 18 months and liked it so much we got another just recently so we have a spare for him to allow us to clean the first one. Our hood attachment gets put on and stays on for the winter months and then stays off for spring through to autumn mostly so its not like we are removnig it a lot but not had any issues at all.

I've not taken the neck rug off since attatching it the rug. A few other girls at our yard use them too, but have had no problems. But their rugs are not the latest winter buster though.

Yes this has happened with my PE rug. I got mine about a year ago, and it has been fab until just before Christmas this happened. Bit annoyed, but easily fixable, and I still think that they are good value for money, and fit well.

I have had the winter buster, the 300g and the buster trio and never had a problem with any of them. Had them for two winters now. I'm a big fan of PE.

Yes, it's happened to every Premier Equine rug I ever bought (and I have got at least 7 of them).
Being of a practical nature, I just got my ancient sewing machine out and reattached the velcro to the neck cover.
Problem solved.

Yea I could do that, but after 2 days of use, why should I?!

Glad I'm not the only one having problems, was beginning to think Mojo is a neck rug destroyer!

You are right - legally, too - however you will just have your hood replaced with one with the same stitching fault.
If you like the rugs (and they are generally quite good), then it's a longer term solution to stitch them, I reckon.
I couldn't bear to keep sending 11 hoods back...

no experience of Premier rugs - but until i joined this forum never heard of them!
I would def complain again and perhaps move to a more trustworthy brand.

All of my older ones have been brilliant- hoods on and off fairly regularly with no problems. However do have a newer one and its going at the velcro on the neck after very little use.

Have just ignored it so far as not needed it- but impressed they sent you a new rug!

I bought a nearly new one from another girl at the yard, ive never had one before.

The problem i had was the detectable neck kept coming off!
The Velcro is in good sticky condition and i was putting it on right!

After it falling off and having to search for it, a few times, i got a local repairer lady to put some D rings and clips on.

Solved the problem, but i shouldnt of had to do it.

I have never had this problem with any of my 3 Trios, and I regularly change the hoods on them. The biggest problem I have is that I have to lean my whole weight off the hoods to detach them the velcro is so strong!!! It sounds like it might just be a problem with the new production batch unfortunately.

I have just rang Premier Equine and emailed them a photo of the neck rug. They replied straight away and are sending another replacement today! Excellent customer service I think, just hope this lasts more than 2 days!

Im also a big faan of PE rugs and never had a problem, fingers crossed this is the last time you need to ring them x

This has happened on one of my necks as well now!
Saw it this morning dangling, after reading this thread yesterday.

Will take photos and email them - mine was bought about 12 months ago, but only used this winter. Maybe they had a faulty batch as I have loads of these rugs and never a problem.

My friend was once sent a premier equine rug with the tail flap stitched on sideways! They sent her a replacement immediately so she fixed the first rug and now has two!
