Just wondered if anyone had any idea of the costs of having your horse/pony produced??

Depends where you are, what standard of rider you want and whether you send it away or get someone freelance to come to yours.

Personally, I'm a student so I dont charge much compared to a pro, someone similar could be a good way of saving a bit of money but still getting a nice horse out of it!

Yes I think my sister's schooling livery is about £130-£150 per week depending on what it is!
But I charge £80, far more reasonable!

One of the top show producers charges £200 per week, and thats just for a show pony! Dread to think the top jumpers/ dressage riders.

I charge around £150 p/w, I know people that charge more!

Andy charges between £100 to £120 pwk
Seeing as everybody else is at it I thought why not

On our yard we pay £180 per week to be produced - all the horses on the yard are qualified for RIHS/HOYS this year. Includes plaiting, trimming and preparation for shows, feeding, schooling, hacking out, bedding, groom at shows, limitless Pimms and lots of sandwiches and cakes at shows!
Does not include worming, vaccinations, teeth/back man, shoeing. entry fees, diesel costs for show transport. Some producers charge a little less, some a lot more!

at our yard, the weekly charge would include:
turning out/bringing in
Mucking out/watering including 10pm late water/feeding
stabling
bedding
haylege/hay
all hard feed
lunging/exercising/hacking out
travel to windsor great park for hacking
schooling with pro rider where necessary
lessons with pro rider
use of school, fields to ride in
use of tack for shows
groom/driver for shows
clipping/trimming/plaiting/bathing/show preparation


excluded:
wormers
some special supplements (some would be included)
farrier
vet
share of diesel to shows
entry fees

The costs are the same whether the horse is well established and needs a few schooling sessions a week, or a baby which needs the pro rider on board 5 times a week.
