Looking at booking into a showjumping clinic with Fred Bergendorff (not 100% sure who he is- a Swedish showjumper though apparently!). Has anyone been to a clinic run by the Professional Equine Training company? It appears that they run lots of them, mainly Oxford, Gloucester and Berkshire with different Showjumpers.

I have a fairly new horse which i am considering taking, it costs £60 for an hour and a half session - in a group (not sure how big/small groups are!)

I need to work on grids, technique etc to stop my horse rushing before and after jumps. I can't really work on this at home as my horse doesn't rush, only when i take him to a show - he gets all excited! x I feel i would benefit from this clinic as it would be at the Summerhouse, where i compete alot, he'd be excited so i could work on technique! However, being £60 i could get 3 one hour lessons with someone else for this but it would obviously be at home with limited jumps (and horse won't be excited - which is the problem).

So, has anyone been to these clinics? What are they like? Did it help you? Would you go again? Was it worth the money?

I have considered hiring the course for an hour which is £45 plus paying for an instructor which is £20 so that would be £65, but would be one to one rather than a group!

Just wanted to know peoples experiences of these clinics are to see what they covered?

Thanks in advance!

Hi i havent personally had one with him but did take my friend and her showjumper to one at askham bryan college which is near us and she absolutely loved it. her horse sounds very similiar to yours actually bags of scope but bit to bold for own good when out and about!!

She was told would be a a group but turned out to be just the two of them.. Not sure if yours would be the same I watched the lesson and he really got focused on what the riders wanted to achieve from the lesson which i thought was great, he made time to ask questions and even half way through the lesson was asking if the riders felt any improvement.. Ive got a youngster who isnt ready to jump yet but i have to say will definately be booking some with him when she is. My friend has been back on more than one occasion to him now and she feels she improved loads.

Im of the opinion try it and see how you feel.. if you dont like it and feel you dont get anything out of it dont go back every rider clicks with certain instructors but you never know unless you try. good luck and let us know if you have one and what you think :) xxxxx

Oh brilliant, sounds good then! x

What exercise did they do, can you remember? Did they do grids and work up to the full course?

I think it would be quite small groups as it's on Friday so I have to have the day off work to do it. If it was a weekend i'd imagine it would be quite busy!

Sounds fun, it's only because its £60 and i already have vet bills from my other horse skinting me out that i wanted to make sure i'd get something from it and not waste my money!

Sounds like your friends has benefitted though and good if she's been back for more!

Thanks x
