has anyone had proffesional photos taken of their horse? i.e. that they have commisioned not ones taken at an event or show? Is this something people do?

Yep, although i know the photographer.

Had some beautiful natural ones of him in the field.

Also used him for my CHAPS passport pics.
 
yes (just replied to a post about this!)

he came out to experiment photographing horses he had a specific image in his head and wanted to see if he could actually photograph it! its for an exhibition! pictures were lovely

Yes, although mine were a bit different as they were taken by photographers for magazine and newspaper articles about my horse. She hates having her picture taken (she knows that cameras go flash and make whirring noises and can spot one anywhere) but they all took this into account and used long lenses instead, and she was so busy wondering what they were doing she looked brilliant instead of trying to hide. And there was the added bonus that I didn't have to pay a penny for any of them!!!!
 
In July I had a photo session with a very talented photographer. I chose to have it at an event, and it was all very laid back and it was if she wasn't there - she was very discreet! She took photos whilst I was warming up and during my first test, and then afterwards she took some "artistic" shots.

Within a couple of days, I could then view my photos in a private gallery on her website and order the photos I wanted. I would highly recommend her, but she's based in Ireland.
