Have just bought a 3 yr old TB mare

raced on the flat 7 times, best result being a 2nd, scrawny as anything!! 15.2hh, only just out of racing (last ran couple of weeks ago).. don't know the yard it has come from, but a friend of mine works there, they liked it and bought it, fed it for a few weeks, said i'd like it, which i do, so i went to see it at lunch time, and will go pick it up tomorrow

It's by Bold Fact (USA) out of a mare by Exactly Sharp (USA) although as it was out of an IRE mare, it's got IRE on its passport

Plan is to ride it as an when i've got time/can be bothered up till end of March, when Squeaky will have finished hunting and should be coming back.. then i'll send it to my secret fat field and chuck it out there for the summer, where i hope it'll turn into a cob like the other two seem to have done

then i'll get it back at the end of the season to start playing with it over the winter ready for the '09 season...

Haven't got any pics, but will try and get some tomorrow when i pick it up..

Have fun! I have been bet I can't get an ex-racer (who is still treated as a racer by her mad owner) to do a dressage test at the end of january after a month's schooling! I can't wait, esp to see what she thinks of a dressage saddle and legs that go all the way round her...

I've got two new ex racers here - well one raced three weeks ago and other had gone into training but hadn't started her canter work yet so i got her early!
be interesting to hear how you're getting on with your new girl. I've just looked at your girl's record on line - bless her, she sounds like my boy in the racing talent department. I've had a few ex racers now and I love them, can look like a mammoth job when they first arrive but they always surprise with their adaptability.

bold Fact was technically bred in the states but never stood there as far as i know and i believe i looked after its mother at one point, if he is the one by known fact (?) out of sookera , and the mare is another foaled there but ended up on this side of the pond and its name rings a bell too i will sleep on it and let you know.

Will try and take some pics of 'Polly' tomorrow

Makes me laugh tho.. trainer told friend (who i bought her off) that she wouldn't eat, and was therefore hard to keep the weight on... but all she has done since she arrived is stuff her face with whatever i've put infront of her.. as she has been doing since my friend has had her...
I sometimes think these people who can't get weight on horses, arn't actually feeding them right or enough...

Anyway, she seems soooo sweet
