After Hannah's lesson on Wednesday where she was taught how to effectively use the outside leg to stop Oliver drifting out on a circle or turning around and napping on her, I thought we'd try it in the field last night.

Well....I was seriously impressed with Hannah (and Oliver of course). She must've REALLY listened to her instructor. She couldn't do figure of eights at the start of the lesson the day before. Ollie was a bit tense (as usual I'd missed a mammoth spook) as the cows started to walk into the field the other side of the fence.

Here's another little snippet. If you look there is an open gateway in the electric fence that Hannah's heading towards. He very often runs/naps straight through the gateway. We teased him by heading towards the gate yesterday and she managed to turn him away from it. I love how she pats him, totally unprompted by me.

Put cones out to steer around for the first time too

As I have said before - you made an inspired choice in getting Ollie!

Hannah reminds me of JAK's MD in the way that she has so much sympathy and empathy for her pony. Great to see

She's 9 Katy. Been riding for a few years now but always had a very difficult (sharp) pony who was a great pony to learn to find a seat on, but was frustratingly stubborn unless she was following another horse.

sometimes quirky ponies are the best for kids. I mean, Tweenie isnt dangerous, but seems to be the typical little cheeky pony who tries it on with kids.

For 9yo Hannah really is fab. Does she have any ambitions? ie showing/ sj or dressage? or is she just happy to be a child and have fun on her pony?

She is doing so well and I love the pony.

Does she want to come and ride Chancer - need a little rider from time to time when I want to do a bit more and mummy dumpling is still stuck at 10 stone
