Protecting hoof after shoe pulled?

My mare has just pulled a shoe and is quite sore, I can't get hold of my farrier and others aren't available until next week. I've kept her in for now but not sure if there is some sort of application I could put on or something so she can be turned out?

She's pulled shoes before and never been sore before now.

Baby nappy and gaffer tape, poultice style?

Cut a carpet tile to fit hoof, and use vet wrap and duct tape to keep in place. Put the carpet bit of tile to the sole of foot and rubber backing to the ground. Works a treat!
