PROtector Helmets no more? Any alternatives that alter the fit for you?

I have an awkward head shape and have loved my PROtector helmet which I got via their bespoke fitting service where they used to send you a flexicurve to make a profile of your head shape then alter the padding to fit.
I'd like a new one now but they don't appear to be trading anymore! It looks like they merged with Patey, but then both seem to have closed a year or two ago.

Does anybody know if they are around under a new name? Or any other makes that will adapt the fit?

Thanks!

I think they are still trading - althugh not easy to find as bespoke. There is one outlet here https://www.rbequestrian.co.uk/506418/products/protector-competitor-riding-hat.aspx There merger with Patey was in 2016 so if you hat is that old you definitely need a new one!

The only thing to bear in mind is that they do not meet BE standards becuase of the ridge over the eyes - so are exclusively marketed as SJ hats now. But if you don't compete BE it isn't an issue!

Any decent tack shop or safety centre will alter the padding in a hat to suit your head shape - that's how they are taught to fit them nowadays. There are also a lot of different base shapes so hopefully you should be able to find one that suits.

Thanks both. Yes my current hat is probably 2015 or 2016. They used to do a skull cap that was Snell rated, no peak, and is still fine for BE, I was using it last season.

I have heard that it was basically the Gatehouse HS1 under a different brand but don't know if that's true...

It's been ages since I had one fitted in a shop. Glad to hear about better training now. I guess that is probably the way to go, once we are free to do things like that again(!)

The BE rule was changed, so they are allowed. My son competed in one for many years, and was inspected and tagged with no problems.
