What feeds are good for protein ? Both my boys (23 and 11) are a good weight, and full of energy but could do with a little more muscle. They are ridden regularly and as correctly as possible (in the Case of the 11 yo who has lots of schooling needs!!). Hacked out mostly, lots of hill work and mix of fast and slow, school 1-2 a week.

On ad lib haylage which is fairly dry but good quality, ready fibre mash (small amount) 365 supplement and a small amount of linseed. What could I add (if anything) to optimise muscle/top line', appreciate old git will naturally drop top line as time goes on, will get cushings test at some point if worried...thanks!!!

Not sure about feeds but I feed mine top chop alfalfa due to the high protein content for my youngster. I guess if you can compare the ingredients between feeds you might be able to find one with the highest protein. I remember an old thread on here somewhere which had a chart of all the brands of feed and it's ingredients for comparison. Might be worth doing a search.

I feed Dengie Healthy Tummy, which is basically alfalfa with some extra bits added (inc Protexin Gut Balancer IIRC). Combined with the correct work, my horse's shape and muscle changed dramatically on this feed. I really like it.

I have also recently changed to topspec for that reason as well. Had always fed a powder supplement but needed more protein so have moved onto topspec.

I only use half the recommended ration of top spec because my horses do have other feed (Dengie, Spillers) so there are some vits/mins in those

This - I don't feed my recommended dose because my lad gets other feed. People seem to forget this. A nutritionist can tell you how much you should be feeding based on what else you feed...
