Has anyone used their gut balancers, and which is more effective- the Bio premium or the Acti premium?

My 16yo TB is quite sensitive to the richness of grass, and since being on his winter grazing has had quite loose droppings. Usually these would firm up as the grazing loses it's nutritional value, but this year there is still plenty of grass so he's not settled down yet. I've seen a few recommendations for these supplements but is the Bio premium so much better that it's worth forking out an extra £15 or so?

Thanks! :)

i used the Bio premium and have to say it is an excellent product. i don't use it anymore as i have sadly lost the horse that it was used on but would not hesitate to use it again if a horse has any gut problems

I use protexin when they change fields in autumn and spring and also used it when used to feed haylage - all of which has prevented cow pats! I buy the £23 sized pot twice a year and that seems to do the trick but tbh could prob get away with the smallest post as it is the change in grass that causes the prob and is ok after a couple of weeks!

I have been advised by a nutritionalist to use Yeasacc. It the only product that has science behind it.

Funnily eniugh, I was just thinking about it tonight, and am going to text her tomorrow (friend) and check exactly which one to get when I'm at the feed store Monday.

I'll be usingit for the same reasons as you.

Thanks for all the replies everyone! I've ordered a tub of Equine Gold, as seemed similar to the Protexin- but if not successful sounds like Bio Premium is the way to go! :) Is Yeasacc included anyway?

Protexin contains

Tindalysed yeast, Soyabean meal, Preplex prebiotic (FOS & Gum acacia).

The yeast is a Saccharomyces cerevisiae strain but not the same one as used in Yea sacc. The yeast in Protexin is tyndalysed so it's not viable.

Equine Gold appears to be a live yeast but I can't figure out which strain and whether there are any other ingredients. Have a look at the label when it arrives :) If it is just live yeast and it does the job you want it to then I'd swap to unbranded Yea sacc cos you can get it cheaper :)
