I was trying to school My very green horse today and as usual it was feeling like a bit of a shambles, although she did put in a lot more effort today! At the end I tried again to teach her rein back and this time she picked it up right away! I was so pleased and I could tell she was pleased with herself! Only problem was she then wouldn't walk forward! It didn't matter what aids I gave her she kept walking backwards!! Maybe I praised her too much! Haha! Luckily we were done because I had to get off in the end... :D
 
Hmmm think I'd have got back on after you got her walking forward in hand you don't want her associating walking backwards with you getting off and the end of work or she might try it every time she's had enough of working!
 
I'm sure she'll be fine as it was just once but I had a horse whose favourite evasion technique was going backwards and it was a right pain in the neck not to mention down right dangerous at times! Sounds like you are doing well with her so far :)
 
Erm we're progressing in some areas but if you have seen my other threads you'll know we have other problems! We're working on them tho! :)
