My 3yo slipped and scraped the front of his fetlock. I box rested him and gave him antibiotics. It soon scabbed over and all the swelling went down so I turned him out but the mud got to his wound and so I decided to bring him in. He has a small patch that isnt proud but the skin is taking ages to grow over it. The area is about 1cm x 1cm. Do you think I should turn him out, He is supposed to be living out for the winter or leave him in till the area covers?

Talk to your vets E. If proud flesh is starting to grow, they can give you copper sulphate cream to carefully spread on the wound. Proud flesh has no nerves so it won't hurt ned. It burns off the proud flesh but you have to be careful not to get it on normal, healing tissue. You should be able to carefully cover the wound and vetwrap it so ned can have a few hours turnout, but I wouldn't leave him out 24/7 until it was definitely on the mend x

If the cut is on the front of his fetlock it will take ages to heal as it is always moving. So personally I would leave him in on box rest until u can see it healing round the edges nicely and then let him out for a little while and not 24/7 until its completley healed.

I found aloe vera very good when Sidney out a hole in his fetlock. Not only did it seem to help speed the healing but also reduced the proud flesh that was forming
