I suppose this should go in the Breeder Chuff Chart thread but I am so pleased with the fact that a horse I bred -- Ragusa (by Rambo) -- won the Internediare I at Frys International yesterday that I didn't really want to bury it in there.

I also wanted to pay posthumous credit to his amazing dam Rylandes Tacta (Tango / Brabant) who produced no less that 14 foals in 20 years (only missing once becase she slipped a foal and once becuase we rested her as she got later and later in covering as she always refused to stand for foal heat). Her progeny include 3 that are currently competing in dressage, namely Ragusa himself, Tallents Highlight by Hilton Brown (Medium level and also a very successful sidesaddle horse) and Tallents Quest by Quo Vadis(now competing successfully at Elementary and about to move up to Medium) and the showjumpers Tallents Asa by Atlantus (a stallion that sadly died by quite young) and Tallents Quondam (by Quo Vadis) who should have done the Futurity a couple of years ago but the owner broke his shoulder just beforehand :-(. Her last foal is currently doing BYEH's I believe but the owners changed the name so I can't check that and she also has a couple of eventers (both by Carmel Head) in Sweden and her first foal (by Atlantus) was the first Fly Away sponsored horse and did well at lower level eventing (although only about 15.2hh) before becoming a broodmare. Quite a number of her other daughters (eg Tallents Activa) seem to have become successful broodmares too as I see the names crop up in breeding lists so her genes carry on well, even if she sadly has no graded sons to her name.

BTW, Rachel Struel who owns, rides and trains Ragusa (aka Goose :)) is also the owner of the young stallion Sandros Dancer who made such an impression at the Moulton Stalion Parade and my sincerest thanks go to her for bringing on her beloved Goose with great sensitivity (like many Drabant descendents he isn't the easiest of rides but delivers when it really counts :)) and for keeping me in touch throughout his career.

In short an oustanding mare who produced top class progeny to every stallion we covered her with.

Salute Tacta :) and see you at Rainbow Bridge

Oh Ciss how exciting for you & what a lovely mare the dam must have been. Do you have any photos of the mare & any of her progeny that you could post for us to see?

I know Rachel & Goose, he's the sweetest horse & loves being fussed over. Watching him & Rachel work together is inspiring & I was thrilled to here how well they'd done at Fry's.

I have a mare by Tallents Asa, from what Ciss says it sounds like he died quite young, if I read it right?

Anyway, I too would like to know of other horses by Tallents Asa. Anyone know of anything?

I know this is very late in the day to reply to this, but to make a correction: it is Tallents Quest by Quo Vadis who was the very successful sidesaddle horse, who trained advance level dressage. I rode her
