Just a proud mum post really
After my realisation following the NW ID breed show a few weeks ago that I was being a wimp and should get my ID Sportshorse out ASAP I took my little lad to the local riding club youngstock class on sunday - here was me thinking the show ground would be quiet but it was heaving and he was such a star !
He's only ever been away from home once before for gelding and he had to contend with travelling, a heaving show ground and being next to manchester airport !! I managed to get hoof black all down my beige pants but had a pair of work trousers in the back of the disco from last week so they came in handy
It was a mixed age class with 12 competitors and some fab looking older boys in the class but we came away with best yearling and went home happy with the day ( Especially how I was back home on the sofa in my PJ's by 12 )
Judges comments were that she can't possibly place any yearlings up with the 3 year olds - she also said he still had a lot to do ( not quite sure what this means) , but then it was his first time out and it is all fab experiance (I guess that is why they have a split rossette but the 2 other yearlings below me had nothing to show for their efforts and good behaviour. )
I was just proud of him for letting me bath him so I can't begin to say how proud I was that he behaved in a reasonable manor with all that was going on. He wasn't sure about the planes and got a bit narky in the line up and I he did fidget quite a bit when I tried to stand him up for the judge but I will work on this at home.
Pics any way as I am sure it is against the law to not incude them
I am afraid the official photographer/driver/groom/eyecandy only got a couple, the one good walk up shot the judge got in the way !!
I have also found out today that his 1/2 brother 'Bowlands Lucky Slipper' won Supreme Champ at the ID Breed show this weekend ! ( kind of outshines my little effort lol ) Going to have a go at a Trailblazers Qualifier next weekend. Must get some practice in standing up and hopefully get some pro picks for next week !!
I am glad I have manned up and taken him out - after all he'll never be a yearling again will he !!
